Focus Features Sets November 7, 2025 Release Dare for Yorgos Lanthimos' Bugonia
The next film from six-time Academy Award® nominated filmmaker will star Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.
Bugonia, the next film from six-time Academy Award® nominated filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, will be released wide in the US on November 7, 2025.
Directed by Lanthimos and written by Will Tracy, the film follows two conspiracy obsessed young men who kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth. It stars Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, and was produced by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe (Element Pictures), Lanthimos, Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen (Square Peg), Stone (Fruit Tree), and Miky Lee and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko (CJ ENM).
Bugonia is based on the South Korean sci-fi comedy, Save the Green Planet. This English-language version was developed by CJ ENM with Aster and Knudsen at Square Peg. The production has been financed by Fremantle and CJ ENM.
Focus Features will release Bugonia in the US with Universal Pictures distributing internationally, excluding Korea.
